 Josh Cantwell

Chief Executive Officer
Josh Cantwell, CEO, and Founder, manages over $100M in private money, which is deployed into multifamily real estate and apartments focused on Northeast Ohio, Houston Texas, Atlanta GA, and Oklahoma. He has been involved in 1,000+ wholesale, rehab, rental, private lender, foreclosure, and apartment transactions since 2004. Josh currently holds a portfolio of over 3,000+ cash-flowing apartments with Freeland Ventures partners Glenn Lytle and Tyler Brummett.

Josh is a true entrepreneur and prides himself on never having had a boss in his entire adult life.

A native of Northeast Ohio, Josh graduated from Baldwin Wallace University in 1998. After graduation, he obtained his Series 6, 63, 66, and life and health insurance licenses where he worked as a fee- based Financial Advisor from 1997-2004.

In 2004, Josh took his knowledge of raising capital and the financial markets and started investing in real estate full-time. He was able to combine his knowledge of financial investing with real estate to create a very successful business, which quickly grew into closing over 100+ wholesale, rehab, and short sale deals per year.

In turn, he began training and teaching apprentice partners and students. He founded Strategic Real Estate Coach in 2007 and has taught thousands of investors how to replicate his success in real estate investing. Josh has vast knowledge and experience in helping to coach clients and mentor students and borrowers from across the US in finding, structuring, negotiating, and closing residential and commercial multifamily transactions for a profit.

Josh is also the host of the Accelerated Real Estate Investor Podcast, which has hosted past guests like Kevin O’Leary, Barbara Corcoran, Kevin Harrington (Sharktank), Ryan Moran (Capitalism.com), Justin Donald (Lifestyle Investor), Gino Wickman (Entrepreneurial Leap) andJack Canfield (Chicken Soup) among others.

Josh lives in Northeast Ohio outside of Cleveland with his wife Lisa Marie and three children, Giuliana, Alessandra, and Dominic who collectively focus their charitable endeavors around “Christmas for Others”.

Glenn Lytle

Chief Strategy Officer

Glenn Lytle has been investing in real estate for over 20 years and co- founded Freeland Ventures with Josh Cantwell in 2015 as a partner to manage investor relations and help drive private equity investments.

He has ownership in over 3,000 rental units and has also managed over $34M in private investments. In addition to real estate and capital management, Glenn has held executive leadership roles in some of the largest, fastest-growing telecommunications companies in the US and has built and rebuilt multiple sales and operations teams and organizations in various regions and industries.

Tyler Brummett

Chief Revenue Officer

Tyler is responsible for scaling Freeland’s real estate portfolio and overseeing budgets, expenditures, and property management. He is also responsible for sourcing, reviewing and negotiating all of the real estate opportunities, and is the primary contact for acquisitions and possible joint venture opportunities. He brings 9 years of sales and lending experience in residential, commercial, and private equity, 6+ years running of his own real estate investment companies, and 7+ years being a director for the nation’s largest mortgage lender.

In 2019, Tyler was nominated by Crain’s Cleveland Business “Twenty in their 20’s” as a rising star of top professionals in Cleveland. At Freeland, Tyler is combining his leadership skills with knowledge gained as an entrepreneur renovating and investing in homes throughout the region. He has also refurbished homes for Habitat for Humanity, and currently resides in the Tremont neighborhood in a home he built and designed.

Tyler enjoys traveling and learning new cultures, boating, hiking, and is an avid car collector.

Roberdo Flanders

Chief Financial Officer

Roberdo has served as the Chief Financial Officer since 2007. He has over 30 years of accounting experience. His responsibilities include but are not limited to tracking cash flow, financial planning, and analyzing the numerous companies’ financial strengths and weaknesses.

Working closely with the team, Roberdo works on financial forecasting and modeling, and examines internal and external factors that may affect revenue and expenses.

Originally from New York City, Roberdo and his wife Jessica, along with their children relocated to Cleveland in 2007 and have been happily calling the city home ever since.

Jason Schlegel

Chief Operations Officer

As the Chief Operating Officer of Freeland Ventures, Jason exemplifies leadership with a broad and impactful history of transforming businesses across varied industries. His professional odyssey commenced within the disciplined ranks of the United States Marine Corps (USMC), laying the foundation for his exemplary operational and leadership prowess. There, he mastered the art of precision and optimization—skills he seamlessly transitioned into the civilian business realm.

Post-military service, Jason has been at the forefront of operational enhancements across several sectors. His acumen encompasses a wide range of fields including hospitality, commercial and modular construction, real estate education, national live events, and the comprehensive operational strategies at Freeland Ventures. His current endeavors focus on vertically integrating several internal companies to significantly enhance growth and profitability.

With an illustrious career spanning over two decades, Jason’s role at Freeland Ventures is pivotal. He adeptly structures and organizes the company’s internal workings, covering Human Resources, IT, Property Management, and the day-to-day operations, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to excellence and efficiency. Jason’s strategic vision and operational expertise continue to be instrumental in driving Freeland Ventures towards new heights of success.

Norm Slemenda

President

Norm is a Certified Property Manager (CPM), a licensed Real Estate Broker in OH, an active member in IREM, and a John Carroll University graduate. Norm began his property management career by assisting in managing a luxury condominium while attending John Carroll.

He has managed and brokered over $1B worth of assets in his career, ranging from market to HUD subsidized/affordable housing and across A, B, and C classes within the states of OH, IN, PA, VA, MD, GA, SC, AL, and WV. Clients have ranged from small family investors to large institutions. Throughout his career, Norm has managed assets in nearly every real estate sector, including multifamily, retail, office, and industrial. His passion is the multifamily sector, and he enjoys leading teams to succeed and grow.

Additionally, Norm led a team in the acquisition of 4,000+ apartments across the Midwest and Southeast.. Specializing in value add, Norm has been able to improve multifamily assets and create large returns for owners and investors. Assets under Norm’s management have consistently produced returns averaging in the upper mid 20% IRR, and as high as 80%. He has achieved exit multiples in excess of 2.0x along with several equity cash-out refinances upon value-add execution in the multifamily sector.

He previously founded and sold a successful property management company, developing the programs to earn the Accredited Management Organization (AMO) via IREM, of which only approximately 600 organizations globally earn this accreditation. Norm has developed industry-leading management systems to simplify and streamline operations across property management, reporting, and investor relations.

In his free time, he enjoys being with his family, friends, and watching his wife’s cut flower business and farm grow.

Dave Lytle

Vice President of Construction

Dave has been in the construction industry for 27 years. During this time, he has managed projects ranging from residential developments to major retail chains, apartments, and senior living apartments. Dave has Built over 1.5 million square feet of senior living communities been involved in new construction projects that have exceeded 1.5 million square feet and has completed 1-million square feet in renovations of multi-family apartments of over 1 million square feet. He has held positions in senior management and was the director of construction for many years before coming on board with Freeland.

Dave and his wife enjoy spending time with their grandchildren and taking in the beauty of nature.

Shana Shriver

Senior Property Accountant

Shana Shriver is a dedicated Senior Property Accountant with over 16 years of experience in the real estate industry, specializing in financial management for commercial and residential properties. Known for her precision, reliability, and deep understanding of property operations, Shana brings a strong commitment to excellence in every aspect of her work.

Her background includes working with diverse property types and navigating complex accounting systems with ease. She also holds a HUD Certificate for Assisted Housing Management, which complements her broad expertise and enhances her ability to support affordable housing initiatives.

Outside of her professional life, Shana finds joy in family time and watching her daughter follow in her footsteps through the art of dance. From graceful recitals to high-energy competitions, she’s her daughter’s biggest cheerleader, celebrating each leap and twirl with pride. Shana also enjoys spending time outdoors, where she recharges and creates lasting memories with loved ones.

Ashley Colon

Regional Manager

Ashley joined 950 Management in 2024 and quickly rose from Property Manager to Regional Manager. Known for her grit and practical leadership, she drives operational excellence across multiple communities, partnering with teams to ensure smooth transitions and strong financial performance. Ashley takes pride in delivering a great resident experience and keeping properties on track. Outside of work, she enjoys camping, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Kurt Kaufman

Director of Business Operations

Kurt joined Freeland Ventures and 950 Management in 2024 and serves as their Director of Business Operations. He is an experienced business leader with a history of driving sales increases, cost reductions, new company/product launches, and customer satisfaction with operational programs/practices. Kurt is a versatile professional with diverse operational experience in IT, HR, operations, maintenance/facilities, and customer experience areas. He is an accomplished leader who turns around group performance, develops high-performing teams, and streamlines operations across a wide range of industries. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, and their three dogs.

 Jennifer Pennington

Director of Marketing & Investor Relations

Jennifer is a valued member of the SREC team with over 25 years of experience in Customer Service and Operations. After starting in 2014 as a Customer Service Representative/Accountant Assistant, she moved up the ranks and accepted a promotion to work directly with Josh as his Executive Coordinator in 2017. This was a life-changing move for her, leaving her small town in western Pennsylvania and moving to Cleveland. In 2020, she was promoted again to Director of Operations and since then has also been given the responsibilities of both Marketing and Investor Relations.

Away from the office, Jennifer is a proud mother of three children Taylor, Michael, and Samuel, with a grandchild due in the fall of 2023. She is passionate about her family and cherishes her free time with them.

Brian Pfaffenberger

Director of Project Management

Brian, born and raised in Cleveland OH, is a highly experienced professional with a passion for helping others. He has a strong background in finance, sales, loan servicing, and project management. He graduated from Cleveland State University in 1999 with a B.B.A. in Finance. His dedication to his work is apparent in his tireless efforts to make sure things are done right making him a valuable asset to the team. Brian lives in Northeast Ohio with his wife and daughter. He enjoys spending his free time with family and friends.

Jessica McCaig

HR Business Partner

Jessica McCaig is a seasoned HR professional with over a decade of experience supporting small businesses in the commercial real estate and property management sectors. As an HR Business Partner, she brings a strategic, people-first approach to aligning HR initiatives with business goals and fostering a positive workplace culture.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources from Kent State University and is SHRM-CP certified. Jessica also serves on the Board of Directors for Cleveland SHRM, where she contributes to advancing the HR profession and supporting the local HR community.

Outside of work, Jessica is passionate about traveling, reading, and spending quality time with her two children.

Sheila Arthur

Director of Customer Service

Sheila and her husband Frank of 33 years have been Clevelanders their whole lives. They are the proud parents of their son Patrick and wife Rachel and beautiful granddaughter Isabelle.

Sheila has a long career in customer service, starting as a negotiator and working her way up to Director of Operations for Strategic Real Estate Coach (SREC) and Freeland Ventures. She is passionate about helping others reach their real estate goals and is committed to providing the best service possible.
